Greatly Improve Your Chances of
Getting a Nintendo Wii!

The Wii Tracker was created to provide a simple way to keep track of mutliple websites where the Nintendo Wii is being sold. Whenever a Wii becomes available on the site, you will be notified instantly, giving you an edge over all the other people out there who are hoping to obtain a Wii as well.

Email Notifications
Whenever a Wii is found at any of the websites you've selected, you will instantly be notified via email. The application requires you to provide your own SMTP server (the server you use to send email). The advantage to this, however, is that you are not at the mercy of some email server that is attempting to notify thousands of other people too.
SMS Notifications
Text messaging is the fastest way to get notified about your Wii. In our tests, when a Wii was found, a text message arrived within 5 seconds of the Wii being detected. Simply get to a computer with an internet connection and checkout.
Phone Call Notifications (Experimental)
If you specify a phone number, you can also be notified using a web service. This service is not free and therefore, you will probably only be able to have it call you a couple of times. It is, however, just as quick and provides a way for you to receive a call on a phone that cannot accept text messages.
Desktop Notifications
As soon as a Wii has been detected as available on one of the specified sites, a balloon will pop up in your system tray and your web browser will be automatically loaded with the page in question. If you set up the site where you are hoping to get your will with something like Amazon's 1-Click technology, the page will display on your computer instantly and you can simply click the 1-Click button to checkout.

FAQ

Q. Why distribute this as an application rather than just set up a website that can provide a similar service?

A. If you were to sign up for a service, you don't have a speed advantage that the Wii Tracker 2006 gives you. Because you are specifying your own email server in the Wii Tracker, you will get the message just as quick as your server is able to respond. If you sign up with an online notification service, you will be notified along with everyone else who gets notified through their systems. You may get the email within a few minutes, but often, when these consoles become available online, other people who are using applications such as the Wii Tracker, have been notified within seconds and therefore have an advantage.

Q. If I use the Wii Tracker, am I guaranteed to get a Nintendo Wii?

A. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees, however, you can be sure that you will be faster than anyone else in getting notified. Also, keep in mind that there are sometimes false positives (i.e. a website change is detected, but the actual number of items in stock has not actually changed).

Q. Don't you provide links in the application that use your own affiliate ID with Amazon or other sites to help you make money?

A. Absolutely not! Not only are we not puting our own affiliate ID in the URL, you are free to add, edit, and remove the URLs we provide yourself. There is absolutely nothing sneaky in the software. No spyware, no affiliate ware, etc.

Q. How can a add my own url to the list provided when I installed the Wii Tracker?

A. Simply click on the "Sites" menu and select "Add...". In the fields provided, specify the url and what to look for in the URL in the search string field.

Q. When I specify a new URL to check, I noticed a checkbox labeled "Invert Logic". What does that mean?

A. Most sites that you check will have something like the phrase "Sold Out" on them. In this case the logic should not be inverted because as long as it finds the words "Sold Out" on the page, the Wii Tracker will assume that there are no new items on the page and will not notify you.

In some instances, however, you are going to be looking for something that doesn't exist currently, but would exist if the item were available. In the case of Amazon, for instance, they don't have anything such as "Sold Out" on the page, however, when the item does become available, the HTML code for their "Add to Cart" button will display. In that case you are no low looking for the absense of something and should set "Invert Logic" to true so that when the absense is no longer detected (e.g. the button is now available), you will be alerted.

Q. Is the Wii Tracker an actual inventory checker?

A. It would be nice if the different retailers would publish their stock information on a regular basis, but alas, we have no such data (except when someone in the company leaks that information, which as far as we can tell may be illegal.).

No. The Wii Tracker simply watches websites for you and notifies you when it finds something available.

Q. Is the Wii Tracker smart enough to not notify me when I'm sleeping?

A. No. Don't you want to get a Wii? Getting up in the middle of the night to check out a notification is part of the fun. If you don't want to be notified by Text Message or Phone Call (the noisiest two notification methods), then simply leave the phone number fields blank for both the Phone Number and SMS tabs.

Q. Won't this software actually track anything with a URL as long as you specify the correct search term?

A. Absolutely. You can use the software to track any url for an update for any reason. It's not just limited to finding the Nintendo Wii. You just need to know the right thing to look for in the page. When that thing (usually text such as "Sold Out") disappears, it is pretty likely that the thing you want is now available.
